 Comentario de Oscar López Ruiz
Guitarrista de Astor Piazzolla desde 1961 a 1986
When you listen to this cd, you will be just as pleasantly surprised as I was when Marcelo Costas´ kindness and humbleness drove him to my house to let me listen to his work. As I did not know Marcelo yet, I was quite sceptical to meet him, no doubt also tired of receiving the countless CDs from groups of musicians who pretend to know how to play Astor´s music. I must confess that I rarely like what I hear.

In this case I was not only impressed, but I also thoroughly enjoyed it and, moreover, I was filled with admiration for Marcelo´s understanding of the most detailed and invisible aspects of this wonderful music as well as the knowledge and talent with which he has adapted the compositions Astor made for his different groups.

The unusual strength of this chamber orchestra demands that he who composes for it posesses a profound knowledge of orchestration. This is certainly the case with Marcelo who also demonstrates a fine and sensitive interpretation of the “piazzolla feeling”.

I had the opportunity to listen to this arrangement being played “live”, I should say being played “live” wonderfully, and while I was enjoying it note by note I discovered a new dimension of beauty in the music I used to play (in most cases on the opening night) at Astor´s side.

Marcelo´s musical talent brings about something that, at least to me, seemed impossible: it adds a new dimension to this work and to its creator.

Marcelo, thank you for letting me enjoy this music again as if it were new, and being a work that has been adored and listened to so often, the feeling it evokes is emotional and incomparable at the same time.
